Largemouth Bass
Kidd Pond is the largemouth's pond — the smaller, quieter of the two, set aside for bass and rigged with a little fishing pier to work it from. It's warm, calm, shallow water, and the fish that suits it best is a largemouth. One thing sets the tone before you cast: every bass at Ken Whillans is catch-and-release, so this is a fish-for-the-fight pond, not a fill-the-cooler one.

This is small-pond largemouth fishing, and the season sets the rhythm. The bass season opens the fourth Saturday in June and runs to November 30, so summer through fall is your window on Kidd Pond.
Largemouth hold in the shallow, weedy cover a warm pond grows, sliding into shade and edges to ambush panfish and anything else that fits a wide mouth. Fish the pier and the reachable shoreline; there's no boating on Kidd Pond, so it's a bank game.
And because CVC runs bass as catch-and-release across the property, plan every fish to go back — barbless and a quick release keep the pond's bass healthy for the next angler.
