Lake Eugenia

Lake Eugenia is drowned farmland with a hydro dam bolted on the end. The Beaver River valley above Flesherton was dammed in 1912 and the fields went under soon after — nobody cleared them first, so the whole basin is stubbled with submerged stumps, logs, and standing timber.

Grind today

Choppy — a 17 km/h average over 4.1 km of fetch keeps you on the north shore with short runs. Gusts spike to 48 km/h at times — check the hourly and time your launch. Good bite potential — the rising barometer leans toward a pickier bite. Fish the north shore where wind stacks bait and keep it tight to cover.

Powerboat

Go

Clear to launch — a 17 km/h S average over 4.1 km of fetch stays well within a powerboat's weight and power; easy to hold position. Gusts spike to 48 km/h at times — time your launch.

Kayak

Marginal

Launchable but exposed — a 30 km/h average gust and 4.1 km of fetch will test a kayak's low, wind-caught profile; put in on the north shore and stay tight to it. Gusts spike to 48 km/h at times — time your launch.

Canoe

No-go

Too rough — a 30 km/h average gust over 4.1 km of fetch overwhelms an open canoe's shallow draft; not a safe launch today. Gusts spike to 48 km/h at times — time your launch.

Lake Eugenia Public Boat Launch & Beach

Canrobert Street (251 Canrobert St, Eugenia/Flesherton), southwest shore

The only municipal public access; all other shoreline is private. Operated by the Eugenia & District Community Improvement Association under MOU with the Municipality of Grey Highlands; 2026 season opens May 8. Motorboat launch fee (~$17/day incl. parking per association info sheet; rates change yearly); canoes/kayaks launch free. Submerged stumps and timber are a basin-wide navigation hazard, worsened by the OPG reservoir's winter drawdown.
