Largemouth Bass
The west-end marsh is largemouth headquarters. Where Spencer Creek trickles in through the Christie Wildlife Area, the lake goes shallow, weedy, and green — a bucketmouth nursery of pads, wood, and stalled current. From there the fish spread to the causeway shallows and the Marina Pavilion docks, but the creek arm is the anchor: the warmest, weediest water on a warm, weedy reservoir, and the first place to start a search.

Christie doesn't give you a spring bite — the park is closed April 1 to the fourth Saturday in June, which locks out the pre-spawn and spawn entirely, so you start post-spawn. From the late-June opener, fish shallow cover early and late: the pads and stumps of the Spencer Creek inflow, the rip-rap and shallows along the causeway, the shade under the Marina Pavilion docks.
Bluegill and sunfish are the main forage, so match the panfish. It's a shallow, warm basin with no documented deep cold layer, so summer doesn't push bass far — they stay on cover, sliding to the deeper weed edges only as fall pulls the temperature down.
There's no winter option here: HCA is clear that Christie never sets safe ice.

The documented shallow, marshy creek-fed zone that becomes a shallow creek upstream — classic shallow vegetated largemouth habitat, and the warmest, weediest water on the reservoir. (Named/mapped feature; holding value is a general habitat pattern, not species-documented.)
